You can change text alignment and orientation in a Word 2007 table. Word makes it easy by including various commands in the Alignment group of the Tool Tables Layout tab on the Ribbon.

Text within a cell can be aligned just like a paragraph: left, center, or right. The text can also be aligned vertically: top, middle, or bottom. Combine these alignment options and you have an explanation for the nine buttons in the Alignment group of the Tool Tables Layout tab.
For example, to make the title row align at the bottom center of each cell, first select the top row in your table and then click the Align Bottom Center button.
Reorienting text in your Word 2007 table
The Text Direction button in the Alignment group changes the way text reads in a cell or group of selected cells. Normally, text is oriented from left to right. By clicking the Text Direction button once, you change the text direction to top-to-bottom. Click the button again and direction is changed to bottom-to-top. Clicking a third time restores the text to normal.
Sadly, you cannot do upside-down text with the Text Direction button.
